$6 Million Sewerage Project at Airport
On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, the Hall County Board and the Grand Island City Council approved the low bid for the Sewerage Project at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport. “The airport is one of the critical pieces of infrastructure that supports the city,” said John Collins, Public Works Director for the City of Grand Island.
Eddy Street Underpass
After the long construction of the Eddy Street Underpass, there is still work that needs to be done. “If you were walking under there, you could look at the concrete on the retaining walls and you’d see cracks and you’d see chips off of it,” Collins noted. “And, some places, you might even see some pieces of metal, which is the rebar that gives it’s strength to the concrete and it would be rusty.”

Capital Avenue, in Grand Island, NE, is now open to traffic. The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, November 10. Among the worth attendees were the Mayor, Jeremy Jensen; City Administrator, Marlin Ferguson; Public Works Director/City Engineer, John Collins; Department of Roads Director, Kyle Schneweis; and Council Members and Citizens of Grand Island.

Capital/Broadwell Intersection Improvement Delayed
Soil contamination found during construction at Capital Avenue and Broadwell has delayed the project.
Broadwell and Capital Avenues will be closed until August 19.
John Collins said that this closure will be longest of the project. The project is expected to be completed by June 2016.
